What To Bring To the Old Alcohol Plant Inn for the Women’s Weekend Hand Carving Retreat
FOR YOUR WORKSPACE BRING:
- Please remember to clearly label your items! We want to make sure your borrowed, lent or misplaced items will find your toolbox again!
- A canopy for shade or rain – Remember to bring long tent stakes & weights as it can get quite windy on the bay and we’ve hand more than one tent topple over!!
- Respirator, safety glasses, earplugs or ear muffs, sun screen, bug repellent
- Ground tarp to protect the grass and/or covered patio area to ease pick-up of stone chips
- Stool, chair, work table, sandbags
- Bucket & broom to sweep up chips
TOOLS:
- Hand Carving Tools if you have them. (We may have a small lending library available)
- Please remember to clearly label your items! We want to make sure your borrowed, lent or misplaced items will find your toolbox again!
- Soft Stone or works in progress that are in the finishing/polishing stage
- Hammer, chisels
- Rasps, rifflers, files
- Sandpaper, various grits
PERSONAL STUFF:
- Please leave your dog at home. We love them, but they are not allowed at the venue.
- Sunscreen & bug spray.
- Appropriate footwear and clothing for rain or shine as the NW weather is very variable.
- Camera! We love photo opportunities to create memories & to use in future promotions of our events.
POT LUCK DINNER & OTHER MEALS:
- We are planning a potluck dinner for Friday night, Saturday soup for lunch and leftovers for Saturday evening dinner as we always have plenty!
- A shared sign up list has been sent out for meal prep & ingedient needs.
- There is a full kitchen for meal storage and minor prep in the suite that we rent. There is a microwave, a stove, as well as a fridge. There also utensils available.
- We can store our coolers there and there may not be enough room in the fridge.
- Bring a beverage or bottle of wine to share.
- Continental style breakfast with coffee and tea will be provided by NWSSA for Saturday & Sunday Mornings
- Alternative Food Options For The Weekend
- The restaurant at the OAPI has eat in and take out.
- There is a QFC grocery store with a deli approx. 5 min. drive away.
- There is a great breakfast place without outdoor seating approx. 5 min. drive away.
- There are several restaurants in the surrounding area
SCULPTURE RELATED:
- Bring up to 3 pieces of sculpture to show & sell at the Art Walk on Saturday, as well as pedestals if you have them. (There are a limited few for use).
- We especially encourage beginners to display sculpture – even if it’s a “Work In Progress”!
- We donate a percentage of all sales to support the Old Alcohol Plant Inn’s non-profit charity: Bayside Housing & Services.
