Saturday June 14, 2025, 10 am to 3:30 pm.
The Tenino Carver’s Guild has invited NWSSA Members to show and sell sculpture on June 14, 2025.
That Saturday is Tenino Farmers Market and Craft Show. The city closes Olympia Street for one block for the crafts part of the show. That part of Olympia Street in front of the Shed, the building that the Tenino Carver’s Guild displays and shows their work in.
I will bring pedestals, a tent, tables, and shelf units to show and sell our art. There will be room for show and tell tools, and even some carving demonstrations. Setup will be between 8 and 10 am volunteers will be needed for setup and tear down. Tear down will take about an hour.
All sculptures can be for sale. Please bring your pieces before 9:30 am. Shelving units will display smaller pieces. Pedestals are for the larger pieces. It is encouraged that artists bring pieces in the $30 to $800 range, along with larger pieces. The artists are responsible for their own sales unless arrangements are made in advance. No commission will be collected.
After the NWSSA show, we have been invited to the Hercules #1 Quarry for a BBQ and dinner by the Tenino Carvers Guild members, and the quarry owner. The quarry is located at the edge of town and has a nice lawn around the quarry floor. Also check out the Quarry Park and the many sandstone carvings around town. I need to know how many people will be attending.
We will be handing out NWSSA promotional materials and promoting our events. I see this as a great opportunity to introduce a different part of the population to stone carving and stone sculpture. The timing is right to pick up a few new carvers for our Pilgrim Firs event.
