About Membership

We engage with members online, over an email list server, in-person at events, and through our journal. Particularly successful are the major symposia, workshops, and shows held throughout the year. Camp Pilgrim Firs and Camp Suttle Lake are both known for their amazing sense of sharing and involvement. You don’t have to be a member to attend symposia or receive the newsletter, but being a member gets you discounts and other benefits.

Who are our Members?
Our membership is a varied and collaborative group of carvers, geologists, rocks hounds, and enthusiasts who love stone, stone sculpture, and the community of stone artists. We have a wide variety of education and experience, giving the association an incredible blend of masters and students, who offer support and friendship that is much appreciated in the art community. Currently, there are approximately 200 members, mostly living in the western US and Canada.

Why become a member?
Many carvers (beginners and experts, alike) suffer from a lack of community and learning resources. Your NWSSA membership will help you become a better artist, meet other artists, share your work, and support the community. As a non-for-profit organization, we keep our membership rates as low as possible in order to serve sculptors from every background.

What do you get as a member?
Membership to NWSSA provides you with an active network of sculptors and stone experts, free access to annual virtual events, discounts on stone sculpting events in the Pacific Northwest, voting privileges, and a subscription to our quarterly paper publication SCULPTURE NORTHWEST.

  • Community of carvers from beginner to master professional
  • Fun, inclusive environment for all levels of sculptor
  • Tool discounts from selected providers
