Thanks to the generosity of our members, NWSSA maintains an Education and Scholarship Fund for both of our symposia. We host auctions during each event that raise funds to pay for our instructors, our work studies, and for financial assistance so that all our members can afford to attend camp.
We offer:
- Work Study positions – These are often for new members of the community and aspiring artists. These positions are team-oriented and involve helping with set-up and tear-down of the event and various tasks throughout the week. Must be able to lift 50lbs and be available to be first on site and the last to leave. In exchange, we offer a significantly discounted registration)
- Work Trade positions – We have quite a few key positions that require leads to keep our symposium running smoothly. Many folks volunteer to help and many folks do a work trade exchange for a discounted rate. Examples include running the auctions, working the medical tent, etc. The symposium directors usually try to have these positions filled months in advance, so reach out and see if there’s a position you can help with!
- Scholarships – We are happy to offer financial assistance to anyone who needs it. If a Workstudy or Work Trade position isn’t the right fit for you, you are more than welcome to apply for a scholarship discount. Note we rarely give full scholarships as our funds are limited.
