2024 Board of Directors

TAMARA BUCHANAN President – In August of 1987,  I attended the 1st NWSSA Symposium. I have have been an active member and attended every symposium since then. I was on the Board of Directors for 4 years, from 1994 to 1997. A big accomplishment of that period was to obtain 501(c)3 tax status which has enabled us to receive grants. I bring to the Board my planning skills, team building, a sense of NWSSA history, and a desire to see NWSSA continue stronger and better than ever.

AERIN SIZELOVE – I have been a member of NWSSA for 5 years, helping the events committee. In 2023 I led the Flower and Garden Show exhibit. I am a super detail-oriented person. I love this organization and like the idea of being able to help the BOD in any way I am able.

OLIVER HARWOOD – Involved in exhibiting, art tours, symposiums and public art. He continues to challenge himself to develop as an artist.  He is committed to introducing stone carving to the public, especially youth.  He established an in-school art program and a product line for carving stone.  He has participated in several Washington St. symposia and believes in the power of the Artist community.

ELLIE HOCHMAN – I have LOVED this organization from my first involvement at Camp Brotherhood in 2016. As my involvement has grown by coordinating the Women’s Hand Carving event (year 4 this past June), and then joining the Board of Directors, I have been honored to be involved in learning how this community works to make events happen year after year. It is truly awe inspiring.
I am now mostly retired from my psychotherapy practice, and look forward to having more time and energy for carving as well as continuing to be involved in this community of artists. I have developed many deep relationships with folks in this group and have also been mentored by so many. For this I feel deep gratitude. This art form has led me to hearing my own voice in a very different way.

KAREN WALSH ROE  Secretary – I became a member of NWSSA after completing my first carving workshop, guided by Kentaro Kojima in 2019. I was instantly obsessed with stone. I enthusiastically support the mission of NWSSA .  It has been great to see the ongoing improvement the governing team has implemented in my time as a member.

MARCO WEISS  Vice President – Last year, with the plan to give back to this amazing community of Artist/Stoners. I hope to help this organization grow and thrive.

MICHAEL YEAMAN  Treasurer – Education: Stanford, BS. MS. Geological Sciences.  MBA Rice.  Career in Energy Exploration and Consulting.  Sculptor: since 2005. NWSSA offices held: VP.
