Volunteers and Sculpture needed.
NWSSA sculpture show and sale.
Tenino, Washington
147 Olympia Street, in front of the Shed.
Saturday June 8, 2024, 10 am to 3:30 pm.

The Tenino Carver’s Guild has invited Northwest Stone Sculptors Association to show and sell sculpture on June 8, 2024.

That Saturday is Tenino Farmers Market and Craft show. The city closes Olympia Street for one block for the crafts part of the show. That part of Olympia Street is in front of The Shed, the building that the Tenino Carver’s Guild displays and shows their work in.

The NWSSA style pedestals, at least one 10×10 popup tent, tables, and shelf units will be available to show and sell our art. There will be room for show and tell tools, and even some carving demonstrations. Setup will be between 8 and 10 am volunteers will be needed for setup and tear down. Tear down will take about an hour.

All sculptures can be for sale. Please bring your pieces before 9:30 am. Shelving units will display smaller pieces. Pedestals are for the larger pieces. It is encouraged that artists bring pieces in the $30 to $800 range, along with larger pieces. The artists are responsible for their own sales unless arrangements are made in advance. No commission will be collected.

Booth is a NWSSA show, we will be handing out NWSSA promotional materials and promoting our events. This is a great opportunity to introduce a different part of the population to stone carving and stone sculpture. The timing is right to pick up a few new carvers for our Pilgrim Firs event.

After the NWSSA event also check out the Quarry Park, the many sandstone carvings around town, and more importantly, even if you did not show sculpture at the event, check out Hercules #1 quarry located at the edge of town. The Tenino Carvers Guild members, and the quarry owner, Scott Hackney will be holding a BBQ and dinner at the quarry and have invited NWSSA members to come enjoy their activity. The quarry has a nice lawn around the quarry floor.  To help them plan, they have asked me to provide an estimate of how many of our members will be attending the BBQ at the quarry, please let me know if you will be there for the BBQ.

Please let me know if you are interested in showing your work and how many pedestals you will need.  Also, if you will be planning to attend their BBQ later.
